At Phytano, our journey into the future of agriculture has led us to pioneer innovative projects
A pioneering and innovative business in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE), the project initially installed Eurpope’s first university based aeroponic container farm (40-ft shipping container) to supply students and staff with on-premises grown leafy greens and fresh herbs. The project then grew and led on to convert an underutilized commercial building into a thriving urban growing operation. This initiative quickly gained prominence, supplying premium restaurants, hotels, and garnering celebrity endorsements. Recognized by the UK government under the Innovate UK Edge program, the project showcased the potential of urban agriculture, earning accolades at the Santander Entrepreneurship Awards and securing the UWE Future Ventures Accelerator fund award for two consecutive years.
Launching the first-of-its-kind modular grow system, Phytano’s hardware and software project addressed large-scale vertical farming challenges, tailoring solutions to meet specific produce consumption needs. Equipped with smart monitoring systems and AI analytics, the project ensures optimal growing conditions, delivering high-quality produce. Successfully operational and supplying hyperlocal, sustainable produce in Bristol, this initiative represents a groundbreaking fusion of advanced technology and sustainable practices in retail food consumption.
Installed at Bahrain City Centre Mall, Bahrain’s premier shopping destination, Phytano’s latest project sets a new standard in combining advanced technology with sustainable practices in food consumption. Seamlessly integrated into the mall’s retail space, the project aligns with the establishment’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Representing a futuristic approach to urban agriculture, this installation delivers fresh, locally-grown produce directly to consumers and retailers in the bustling urban environment. The presence of Phytano in Bahrain City Centre Mall exemplifies a visionary model for sustainable food production and consumption at the heart of Bahrain’s vibrant urban landscape
